Verona's dentist, one straight run down I-81.
From Verona, the trip to our office is the county's simplest kind of drive: I-81 south to Exit 222, then a couple of turns onto the Augusta Health campus. No downtown, no traffic lights worth counting. The office is at 41 S Medical Park Drive — an independent practice that sits on the hospital campus without belonging to the hospital, on the route Verona already takes for medical appointments south of Staunton.
Dr. Brian Podbesek has led the practice here since 2014 and accepts new patients from Verona and the northern end of the county. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8 to 5 — cleanings before work, emergencies the day you call — and the Google rating stands at 5.0 across 649+ reviews.
What makes the interstate hop worth it
Everything lives under one roof, so Verona patients rarely get referred somewhere farther. Dental implants — from a single tooth to All-on-X full-arch reconstruction with Dr. Podbesek — are planned in-house on CBCT 3D imaging, with a written plan and costs up front. Invisalign runs on iTero digital scans, and routine family care fills the rest of the schedule: exams, fillings, crowns, kids' visits.
For a broken or aching tooth, same-day emergency appointments are the standing policy Monday through Friday. Call before you get on 81 and the room will be ready when you take Exit 222.
Insurance for Verona patients
In-network with Delta Dental, Cigna, and United Concordia; Aetna, MetLife, Guardian, BCBS, Humana, and Principal are accepted and filed for you. Without dental coverage, the Virginia Dental Club membership plan covers cleanings, exams, and x-rays and discounts most other care — a membership plan, not insurance — and CareCredit financing is available for larger treatment.
Questions we hear in the chair
- Do you take patients from Verona?
- Yes — Verona and the northern county are a regular part of our week. Dr. Podbesek accepts new patients, and the front desk will schedule around the I-81 commute, including first-of-the-morning slots.
- Can you see a Verona dental emergency the same day?
- Call 540-885-8037 before you drive — same-day emergency appointments are our standing policy, Monday through Friday, 8 to 5. We'll coach you on protecting the tooth during the ride down and have you into a chair when you arrive. Call for current availability.
- What insurance do you accept?
- Delta Dental, Cigna, and United Concordia in-network; Aetna, MetLife, Guardian, BCBS, Humana, and Principal accepted and filed. No coverage — ask about the Virginia Dental Club membership plan, which isn't insurance but covers preventive visits and discounts the rest.
- Why not just find a dentist in Staunton?
- Many Verona families pass Staunton for the same reason they pass it for hospital care: the Augusta Health campus concentrates the equipment. Implants, All-on-X, CBCT imaging, iTero scanning, and family checkups share one address here — and Exit 222 is one exit past downtown traffic.
