Work for dentists, not for a fund.
Any serious candidate arrives with the same short list of questions: who actually owns the practice, whether treatment calls stay with the clinician, and whether the job comes with a mentor or just a monthly target. Those deserve straight answers, so here they are.
Willis & Associates Family Dentistry started in this building. Dr. Willis, a WVU-trained dentist, founded the group in 2012 and grew it without a dollar of private-equity money. Treatment decisions here rest with the dentists, no one is handed a sales number to hit, and ask who owns the place and you get a person's name, not a portfolio.
For doctors
Every private-equity recruiter in Virginia has a rebuttal, and this is it: a group that dentists own, started by a founder who still takes cosmetic cases himself. Join as an associate and you are paired with a mentor by name, the technology is already installed — this office runs an iTero Lumina scanner alongside CBCT today, not someday — and advancement is real, because the group fills its senior seats from within.
The specific numbers a candidate privately wants — compensation architecture, mentorship structure, path to partnership — are conversation material, and we'd rather have that conversation than publish a brochure version. Reach out and ask.
For hygienists, assistants, and front desk
A settled single-doctor office on the Augusta Health campus is the calm version of dental work: a steady Monday-to-Friday schedule with weekends off, a lead dentist who's been here since 2014, and patients who request the same hygienist visit after visit because continuity is policy — for staff exactly as for patients.
We don't post a running list of openings here, and we won't pretend a role exists when it doesn't. If the work sounds right, introduce yourself — good people get remembered when the next opening comes.
Questions we hear in the chair
- How do I apply?
- Call 540-885-8037 and ask for the practice manager, or send your background through the contact page. Every serious inquiry gets a human reply.
- Is this a corporate chain?
- No. This Fishersville office is the birthplace of Willis & Associates, a doctor-owned dental group grown without private-equity backing. What that ownership means on an ordinary Tuesday: a spreadsheet has never overruled a dentist's judgment here.
- Are you hiring right now?
- Openings come and go, so we don't promise one here. Reach out with your background — if there's no fit today, a growing group tends to create one.
- Do you hire new graduates?
- Yes, gladly. Mentorship is the group's backbone: every new dentist is paired with a specific mentor, gets help on difficult cases, and can call on experienced Willis & Associates doctors across Virginia. Recent graduates are encouraged to get in touch.
