new patients
The questions every new patient asks.
Below are the questions our front desk fields every day, answered the way you'd hear them on the phone. If yours is missing, call — a real person picks up.
Questions we hear in the chair
- Are you taking new patients?
- Yes. Dr. Podbesek is welcoming new patients now — schedule online, or phone the office and request the earliest opening.
- Do you take my insurance?
- We're in-network with Delta Dental, Cigna, United Concordia, and we accept most other major PPO plans, including Aetna, MetLife, Guardian, BCBS, and others. The front desk verifies your specific plan before your first visit.
- What if I don't have insurance?
- Uninsured patients can join the Virginia Dental Club, our in-house membership: a flat yearly fee covers routine care, and most other services carry member pricing. Full details live on its own page — or the front desk can explain the whole thing in a single call.
- How much will my visit cost?
- You'll know before treatment happens, not after — every plan comes in writing with cost estimates and your insurance benefit applied. Cost conversations here come first, not at checkout.
- Do you see children?
- Yes — this is a family practice, and parents-and-kids-same-afternoon scheduling is normal here. A parent or legal guardian needs to be present for a child's first visit.
- What about emergencies?
- Call 540-885-8037 first — we keep room for same-day emergency visits, and the emergency pages on this site cover what to do in the first minutes for the common ones. Call for current availability.
- How long is a first visit?
- Plan on roughly an hour. It covers your history, digital X-rays when due, an iTero scan, a cleaning if your gum health permits, and a plan in writing. For a fuller preview, the first-visit page lays out the whole sequence.
- I haven't seen a dentist in years. Is that okay?
- Completely fine. Roughly one in three of our new patients last saw a dentist more than five years ago. Mention it when you book so we can set aside extra time — your plan begins where you are now, guilt not included.
- Where exactly are you?
- 41 S Medical Park Dr, Suite #100, Fishersville, VA 22939 — on the Augusta Health campus, with parking at the door. From I-81, take Exit 222; we're minutes from Staunton and Waynesboro.
On Medical Park Drive since 2014. .
