Meet Founder, Dr. James Willis

There isn’t anyone around who is more passionate about quality dentistry than Dr. James W. Willis. Starting at a small office in Fishersville (which he later ended up purchasing), Dr. Willis worked his way up from associate dentist to the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Willis & Associates Family Dentistry, one of Virginia’s fastest growing dental groups with 14 practices currently in operation. He has been instrumental in shaping and overseeing the dental group’s growth, strategy and culture. In 2012, Dr. Willis completed the Crozet Family Dental transition and set out to define the standard of quality in dental care for his patients. His belief in putting patients first is fundamental to our dental group’s core values and patient care delivery model. Ensuring quality training for doctors, placing only the very best materials in patient’s mouths, and treating patients like family are tenets in his practice model. Dr. Willis believes the dental practice goals are best aligned with patients when the clinics are owned and directed by a dentist leader. He is very passionate about emerging technology and its applications to advance the dental industry.

With an innate ability to connect and empathize with people, he has curated a pioneering troupe of leaders at every level. Under Dr. Willis’s leadership, the dental group has accrued accolade after accolade, such as being recognized as the first platinum providers in Invisalign as a GP in the Charlottesville/Augusta region, 8 plus back to back year winners of Charlottesville Family Favorite awards, voted top Dentist in Virginia Living magazine, and best Chairside manner awards in Ourhealth.

Dr. Willis is adamant in the fact that his loving community has been his primary driving force behind his success, and he always remembers to give back. Over time, Dr. Willis has donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Young Life Christian Organization, and local schools such as Brownsville Elementary.

Dr. Willis obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the West Virginia School of Dentistry in Morgantown. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry, American Academy of Clear Aligners (Executive Committee), Virginia Dental Association, Shenandoah Valley Dental Association, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry.
