After a remarkable 35 years of service in the dental field, Susan, our hygienist at our Rocky Mount Family Dentistry location, is hanging up her gloves and retiring from practice!
Susan’s journey in the dental field began in 1987, when she graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at VWCC and started her first job in Richmond, VA. It was her passion for helping others and her desire to improve the lives of her patients that drove her to pursue a career in the field of dentistry.
Susan’s career took her to many different places, but her dedication to her patients never wavered. She moved to Winston-Salem, NC, where she worked in private practice before relocating to Ferrum, VA in 1995. It was here that Susan found her home and where she would spend the next 21 years working in private practice for Dr. Charles Burt, DDS.
Susan has always been driven by her desire to make a difference in the lives of her patients. She is a gifted dental hygienist, known for her gentle touch, her warm smile and her ability to put even the most nervous patients at ease. Her patients have always been her top priority, and she has always taken the time to listen to their concerns and address their needs.
Susan’s tenure at Dr. Burt’s practice was marked by her dedication to her patients and her colleagues. After Dr. Burt’s retirement in 2016, Susan took on the role of a substitute hygienist for various offices in Martinsville, Roanoke, Salem, and the surrounding areas. Her desire to continue to make a difference in the lives of her patients kept her working, even after her colleague’s retirement.
In August 2017, Susan returned to private practice, this time working for Dr. Millard Radford DDS, until his retirement in July 2021. Susan then worked for the Rocky Mount Family Dentistry location after Dr. James Willis took over Dr. Radford’s practice. Susan has enjoyed the relationships she has made with her colleagues and patients over the years and will miss them dearly.
Susan’s 35 years of service in the dental field have been marked by her unwavering dedication to her patients, her colleagues, and her profession. She is a true professional, who has always put the needs of her patients first. Rocky Mount Family Dentistry will miss you Susan!
